NORTH BEND - Bernice P. (Shady) Bomba, 93, a long time resident of North Bend, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2015 at the Extended Care Unit at Bucktail Medical Center, South Renovo where she resided for the past 5 months. Bernice was born on May 21, 1921 in Renovo, the daughter of Edward and Idell (Kelly) Shady. On October 12, 1940 she married Edward Bomba who died February 28, 2002. They were married 61 years. Bernice was a homemaker who loved cooking, canning and baking. She enjoyed country music, feeding the birds and watching the Big Bang Theory. She also enjoyed going out to eat and trips to the grocery store where she would talk to everyone. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She is survived by her five children; Dorothy Bomba of Lock Haven, Edward Bomba of Farwell, Joseph Bomba of North Bend, Christine (Robert) Huff of Farwell and Susan (Michael) Tripp of North Bend, seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister Willa Hyzer of State College and several nieces and nephews. Two sisters Elsie Fetterman and Pearl Witchey, one brother Pat Shady and a daughter-in-law Sandra Bomba and a grandson Martin Edward Bomba preceded her in death. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 24, 2015 in the Chapel at St. Joseph Cemetery, Hyner with Pastor Doug Conway officiating. Friends and relatives will be received from 10:30 to 11:00. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Bucktail Medical Center 1001 Pine St., S. Renovo, PA or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908. Maxwell Funeral Home, Renovo has charge of arrangements.
