Bernard H. Peters

YORK - Bernard H. Peters, 87, died Monday evening, November 10, 2008 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Mae A. (Gallagher) Peters. Private services will be held at the family's convenience with the Rev. Richard E. Jorgensen officiating. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Peters was born September 9, 1921, in North York. He was the son of the late Romeo B. and Edna (Beuhler) Peters. He was a 1940 graduate of William Penn Senior High School and went on to serve in the Army Air Force as a Sergeant with the 1333rd Base Unit Air Transport Command during World War II. After his discharge from the military, Mr. Peters worked as an Industrial Specialist with the Naval Ordinance Plant in York for more than 30 years retiring March 25, 1977. He was a member of the NOP Alumni as well as St. Matthew Lutheran Church and Sunday School. He also enjoyed playing golf. In addition to his wife, Mr. Peters is survived by his son, Gregory A. Peters and wife, Vicki of Dover; his daughter, Judy Perago and husband, Curt of York; five grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his three brothers, Philip, Fay "FB", and Michael Peters. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 839 W. Market St., York, PA 17401.
