Benjamin P. 'Benny G' Gierzadowicz

YORK – Benjamin P. “Benny G” Gierzadowicz, 85, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2012 at his home. He was the husband of the late Agnes R. (Hopwood) Gierzadowicz. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, October 19, 2012 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 309 S. George Street, York with Rev. Jonathan P. Sawicki officiating. Burial will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery with full military rites provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements. Born August 18, 1927 in Bridgeport, Conn. a son of the late Anthony and Stefania (Pakuc) Gierzadowicz, he retired from Iron Workers Local 404. Mr. Gierzadowicz was a life member of Rooster Club, 13th Ward Political Club, Vigilant Fire Co., South End Club, Loyal Order of Moose, and White Flash Hunting Camp. He was also a member of Shiloh American Legion and was an avid golfer. He served in the US Army during WWII. Mr. Gierzadowicz is survived by three grandchildren, Stephanie Schmitt, Jacqueline Rambler, and Christine Gurreri; three great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, David Gierzadowicz; three brothers, Stanley, John, and Tony Gierzadowicz; and two sisters, Josie Hatfield and Sophie Clark.
