Beatrice Shirley 'Bea' (Stern) Harrison

HARRISBURG - Beatrice Shirley Bea (Stern) Harrison, 84, formerly a life long resident of Williamsport, died on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at the Harrisburg Hospital. Beatrice was born on May 26, 1926 in Buffalo, NY and was the daughter of the late Harry and Harriet (Richbart) Stern. She was a graduate of Williamsport High School and Penn State University. She was married for 49 years to the late Morton O. Harrison who had died in 1997. Beatrice was a life long member of Congregation Ohev Sholom, Hadassah and Sisterhood. She was a volunteer at Divine Providence Hospital and Friends of the Court. She was an accomplished dancer, taught dancing, and was very involved with her family as well as the Penn State dancing group Thespians. Beatrice is survived by one son and daughter-in-law; Samuel J. Sam and Ellen Harrison of Scotch Plains, NJ, two daughters and sons-in-law; Amy E. and Joel Arker of Harrisburg and Hope and Myles Hyman of Albany, NY, six grandchildren; Danny, Adam, Jenny, Laura, Sara and Alex, one great-grandchild; Jillian and one sister; Mitzi Leider of San Diego, CA. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister; Elaine Rauff. The funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 21, 2011 at the Allen & Redmond Funeral Home, 331 Elmira St., Williamsport with her spiritual leader, Rabbi Shaul Rappeport officiating. Burial will follow in Ohev Sholom Cemetery. In keeping with Jewish tradition, there will be no viewing or flowers.
