TROY - Beatrice M. (Lee) Simons Age 82 of Columbia Cross Roads passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Memorial Hospital, Towanda after an extended illness. She was born July 24, 1929 in New Albany, PA daughter of the late Rory and Rosa Lee. Bea was a member of the Federated Church of East Smithfield and a longtime member of the Good Neighbor Club. She stitched many warm quilts for needy families wither dear friends and neighbors. Bea was employed at the Extension Office in Towanda for several years where she worked with local families to make healthy meals. She was a well know baker for over 60 years. She will long be remembered for her beautiful wedding cakes. In her younger years she was a talented wallpaper hanger in the area. Previously she had worked at Binnie Dipples Gas Station and Snack Bar. She also worked for a time at Sanctuary Hill Animal Shelter. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Charlie & Bonnie Simons, Lee and Diane Simons, also son Alan Simons her caregiver for several years with whom she resided. Her sisters, Anna & Aubrey Cole of Athens, Ruth & Kenneth Shipman of Barton, NY, Susan & Richard Comstock of Wellsburg, NY, Brothers, Bob Lee of E. Smithfield, Perry Lee of FL, Joe & Jeannine Lee of Virginia, sisters-in-law, Grace Lee and Jean Lee, special niece, Rosemary Forrest grandchildren, Joy & Laurali Simons, Lisa & Tom Simons, Terry & Amy Simons, Donna & Tim Ackley, Mitchell Ackley Jodie, Jason, Paige and Blake Lamphere, several great and step-grand and great-grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews and friends. Her parents, Husband, Albert Simons, and son, Scottie Simons, predeceased Bea. Family and friends are invited to call Saturday, January 8, 2011 from 1 to 2 PM at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 110 West Main Street, Troy. Her service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 2 PM with Reverend Stan Gill of the East Smithfield Federated Church officiating. Interment will be in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA. Memorials are directed to Bradford County Manor Activities Fund, RR3 Box 322, Troy, PA 16947, or to the Sanctuary Hill Animal Shelter, East Smithfield, PA. The Simons family would like to thank Bonnie Simons for her excellent daily care that she gave to Bea.
