Beatrice M. Jones

Beatrice M. Jones, 78, died on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 5:55 a.m. at Susquehanna Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Beatrice (Bea) was born Beatrice May Olewiler on January 11, 1934 in York, daughter of the late John and Theda (Wagner) Olewiler. She was the wife of the late Carlton F. Jones of Lancaster. Beatrice studied to become a nurses aide and worked for various nursing homes and for a boy’s home before making the decision to work overseas as a Christian Missionary in Northern India. She assisted those that had contracted leprosy near a town named Dehra Dun. She returned to the states and worked in sewing factories and wherever she could get work, until she met her late husband, Carlton Jones, at age 34. She encouraged him to come to church in York with her and they married shortly thereafter in 1968. Beatrice and her late husband were followers of Jesus and shared His gospel whenever and wherever they could. They may not have had much on this earth, but they had the Lord and each other to see them through. Beatrice is survived by her son, Paul T. Jones and his wife Tammy, of Lititz; her daughter, Bernice R. Hosmer of Lancaster; and four grandchildren, Stephen & Katelyn Jones and Faith & Mercy Hosmer.
