Beatrice K. 'Bea' (Sidler) Woodcock

MILTON - Beatrice K. “Bea” (Sidler) Woodcock, 95 died Sunday, December 08, 2013 at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg following a brief illness. She was born on January 31, 1918 in West Milton and was the daughter of the late Howard and Nettie (Brochyus) Sidler. Bea married the late Dr. Charles H. “Woody” Woodcock, III on September 20, 1945 and they celebrated 45 years of marriage together until his death on August 16, 1991. She spent her youth in West Milton, graduating from Milton High School Class of 1936. She attended Bucknell University, where she met Woody who was undergoing naval training. Following the war, she moved to Philadelphia and worked at the Franklin Institute while Woody attended Hahnemann School of Medicine. She spent the majority of her life living in Milton although she and her family moved to Ashbury Park, NJ, Edinburgh, Scotland and Shrewsbury, England as Woody pursued a specialty in Orthopedics. Following the experience of living abroad, she and her family traveled to Europe yearly for many years. After the death of her husband and well into her eighties, Bea accompanied by her daughter and other friends went on a number of cruises to Russia, the Mediterranean, the Canary Islands and Africa. Along with her son and grandson, Bea traveled to the United Kingdom visiting favorite sites and old friends. Much to the surprise of her children, for she did not swim, Bea also enjoyed yearly trips to the Rideau Lakes in Ontario for fishing and boating vacations. Bea was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Milton, the Milton Garden Club, Eastern Star and the Milton Bridge Club. She enjoyed playing cards, traveling and gardening especially being involved in Ikebana flower arranging. She particularly enjoyed caring for the various cats and dogs, which joined the family over the years. As she aged the visits with these animals had a soothing and relaxing impact on her. Bea is survived by one son and daughter-in-law; Charles H. and Corey Woodcock, IV of New Columbia, one daughter; Jane E. S. Woodcock of Milton, one grandson; Charles H. and wife Samantha Woodcock, V of Norwalk, CT, one Nephew; James N. H.
