YORK- Barry W. Rathvon, 75, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Manor Care Health Services-Kingston Ct. in York. He was the son of Elwood and Vera (Bradley) Rathvon, who preceded him in death. Barry graduated from McCaskey High School in 1960. He served in the Army Reserves. He was a paperboy in the 1950’s and later worked as a printer for the Lancaster Newspapers and Science Press. He was involved in the Community Big Brothers. He raised and showed Vizsla dogs at shows. Later he owned and operated the Ice House in Blue Ball and East Stroudsburg. Barry Loved people and sold Achenbaugh Pasteries at the Southern and Central Markets in Lancaster, and the York Market in York. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching his favorite teams: Penn State, Colts, and Orioles. He is survived by his sister, Barbara Rathvon Hanna; three children, Danyon, Michelle, and Sheree; grandchildren; great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews and his longtime friend and caregiver, Jane Simon. A Graveside Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, October 7, 2016 at Prospect Hill Cemetery in York. Certified Celebrant Betty Frey will be officiating at the service. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice & Community Care, 224 St. Charles Way, York, PA 17403.
