Barry L. Ness

YORK—Barry L. Ness, 64, died Thursday, October 3, 2013 at his residence in York Township. He was the husband of the late Julie A. (Folkenroth) Ness. They were married June 21, 1975 and spent 25 years together. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11 AM, Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at Faith United Church of Christ, 509 Pacific Ave, York with his pastor, the Rev. Ron Oelrich officiating. Visitations will be held from 6-8 PM, Monday, at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York and from 10-11 AM, Tuesday, at the church. Burial will be held in Mt. Rose Cemetery. Born April 13, 1949 in York, he was a son of the late Alfred E. and Martha M. (Andrews) Ness. He has been employed with Waters Corp for the past 14 years as Field Service Engineer and previously worked with Agway and Hercon. A member of Faith United Church of Christ, he was active in numerous church organizations and formerly attended Bethany United Church of Christ. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, kayaking and woodsman shows. He was dedicated and caring to his family, especially his daughter and granddaughter. A people person, he appreciated a good joke and took pleasure in making people laugh. He also loved his dogs, Rascal and Jack. Mr. Ness is survived by one daughter, Sarah Ann Dorward and her husband, Eric of York; one granddaughter, Lily E. Dorward; three brothers, Dennis Ness of York, Ronald Ness of IL and Douglas Ness of York; one sister, Sandra Ness of Dover and several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by one brother, Terry Ness. In lieu of flowers memorial contribution may be made to Faith United Church of Christ, 509 Pacific Ave, York, PA 17404.
