Barry J. Sheeler

Barry Jay Sheeler, Dover, PA, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2019, at the age of 74. Born March 7, 1945, in Somerset, PA, he was a son of the late Paul E. and Ruth P. (Brant) Sheeler. Barry was a graduate of Somerset Area High School and Shippensburg University. He retired from Dover Area School District where he taught for 30 years. Barry enjoyed watching Notre Dame football, LA Dodgers baseball and loved attending games with his son. He also loved spending time at his daughter's farm helping with the animals. Barry enjoyed hunting, but later in life just being in the woods with his brother and nephews made him happy. Barry is survived by his wife of 46 years, Patricia (Marino) Sheeler; son, Thomas (Cynthia Lockard); daughter, Ashley; brother, Duane; and sisters, Audrey, Deana Landis and Donna Ohler; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Memorial contributions may be made to Speranza Animal Rescue, 1216 Brandt Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055. A graveside service at Somerset County Memorial Park will be held at the convenience of the family. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York is assisting the family with the arrangements.
