Barry Gordon Garverick

LOCK HAVEN - Barry G. Garverick,“Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest”. (Matthew 11:28) Barry Gordon Garverick died at Susque View, a loving nursing Home on November 28, 2014 at the age of 78. Born April 23, 1936 at the Teah Hospital in Lock Haven. Barry was the son of Gordon Garverick and Dorothy Smith, both deceased. He resided most of his life in Waterville where he enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening in Pine Creek. He was also a baseball coach for 12 years and was well known for his winning teams in the local area. Barry worked at Trimtex in Williamsport and Piper Aircraft, Lock Haven and on the B-1 bomber at McDonald Douglas in Columbus, Ohio. He returned to Waterville and opened his own Radio Shack in Jersey Shore, which he operated 23 years. Barry is survived by his wife Charlene, daughter Wendy (Jerry) Scheiderich, twin sons Barry (Joy) Garverick, Jr. and Larry (Sherry) Garverick. One brother William Smith and a sister Sandra Young, 5 grandchildren and a friend he loved like a brother, Glenn Miller of Howard, PA. A private memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. The family suggests memorial donations if so desired be made to Susque View atrium, 22 Cree Drive, Lock Haven, PA 17745. Barry spent many hours in the garden as do all residents of Susque View a loving and caring nursing home. Barry’s first love was to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. When we have all the work done we were sent to do, we are allowed to shed our body, which imprisons our soul like a cocoon encloses the future butterfly and when the time is right we can let go of it and we will be free of pain, free of fears and worries – free as a beautiful butterfly returning home to God. On that evening of November 28th Barry returned home to God! Amen. Helt Funeral Chapel, Mill Hall has charge of arrangements.
