YORK-Barry George Knight, 69, passed away Sunday, August 1, 2010 at York Hospital. He was the loving husband of Barbara Ellen (Anderson) Knight. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on February 12, 2010. A celebration of life service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc. 1551 Kenneth Road, York, with Certified Celebrant Betty Frey officiating. A visitation will be held 1-2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Born April 17, 1941 in Hanover, PA, a son of the late Richard L. and Lorraine (Shatzer) Knight, he was a graduate of William Penn High School. Mr. Knight was a former Corporate Pilot for Specialty Industries Inc. for 22 years until his retirement. As a pilot he accomplished over 10,000 flight hours, was a licensed flight instructor, and a member of AOPA. Flying was his passion and God was his copilot. He enjoyed deer hunting and camping at Laurel Lake, visiting Florida beaches, NASCAR, riding his Moto Guzzi, but most importantly, spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Mr. Knight is survived by a son, Brian G. Knight and wife, Shelly L. of Raleigh, NC; two daughters, Crystal J. Ellis and husband, John T. , and Cynthia J. Brodbeck, all of York; four grandchildren, Brandon and Amanda Ellis, Kevin Brodbeck, and Matthew Knight; two brothers, Richard J. Knight of York, and Michael Knight of Las Vegas, NV; a sister Shirley Fissel of East Berlin; many nieces and nephews; and his Siberian Husky, Valor "Eddie". He was preceded in death by a brother, Colin L. Knight; and a sister, Janie Knight.
