Barry Lee Downs

DOVER- Barry Lee Downs, 67, of Dover Township, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2024 at his residence. He was the husband of Gloria M. (Urey) Downs.  The couple had been together for seventeen years and were recently married on February 14, 2024.

Barry was born in York on June 3, 1957, the son of Alverta M. (Dennis) Downs of Dover and the late Richard E. Downs.  He retired in 2013 from New York Wire Company.  

Barry had a love for cars and motorcycles.  He also enjoyed roller skating and playing cards as well as watching NASCAR.  He was a hard worker and enjoyed companionship with his pet Boston terrier's.  He was a member of Shiloh American Legion sons for 35 years.

Along with his wife Gloria and his mother Alverta, he leaves a daughter, Becki Lynn Kern and her husband Nowell of Maryland; two grandchildren, Serena McCarter and her husband Noah and Sierra Kolocin; a brother, Robert Downs, and a sister, Beverly Rothrock.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Kenny Downs.

Services will be private. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York is assisting the family with the arrangements.
