YORK- Barry Bruggeman, 69, passed away Thursday, August 17, 2017 at York Hospital. He was the loving husband of Kay Lorraine (Rodgers) Bruggeman. The couple would have celebrated their 11th anniversary September 23rd. A Celebration of Life tribute service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, with Pastor Doug Miller officiating. Visitation will be held from 10-11 AM prior to the service. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born August 8, 1948 in York, Barry was a son of the late Paul and Myrna (Miller) Bruggeman. He worked in banking until his retirement in 2009. Mr. Bruggeman served our country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Barry was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, skiing, kayaking and four-wheeling. He also enjoyed his favorite toys, a 1939 Ford and a 1948 Ford Pickup Truck. He was a member of Wolgamuth Church of the Brethren in Dillsburg, the Hanover Street Rod Association, the 13th Ward Political Club, and was a former member of the York Ski Club. In addition to his wife Kay, Mr. Bruggeman is survived by a brother, Paul “Rick” Bruggeman and his wife Deb of Dover; a sister, Connie Lapes of York; a niece, Amy; three nephews, Eric, Christopher and Matthew; a great niece, Olivia, and a great nephew, Aaron. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Patient Help Fund, 25 Monument Road, Suite 194, York, PA 17403.
