Barbara E. Wilson

York--Barbara Eileen (Mains) Wilson, died at age 76 on March 11, 2024 of interstitial pulmonary fibrosis. Born August 7, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Dorothy Mains of Shippensburg. Growing up in the small town, Barbara thrived in school, band, chorus, The Nine Sharps, extra-curricular sports, church, and Girl Scouts having the Curved Bar designation. She graduated in 1968 from Penn State University where she was a member of the Women’s Chorus and earned a degree in Human Development. She was a proud lifetime supporter of everything Penn State.

Barbara was known as a kind person. One of her friends remarked, “She just wanted everyone to be happy.” She was also known for sharing her array of special Christmas cookies. She enjoyed gardening, baking, card clubs, and all sports.

A member of Aldersgate Church, she was a long-time member of the Senior Chorus. She was also a volunteer for each of her children’s activities as they grew and served as President of the York Township PTA.

She is survived by her beloved husband Mark and her two cherished children: son, Scott R. Jacobs of North Ferrisburgh, VT and daughter, Heather E. Tedesco of McLean, VA. She adored her grandchildren Sophia, Will, and Henry Tedesco and Maya Jane Jacobs. She is also survived by her sister Lois M. Burkholder of Venice, FL and 2 nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:00AM, Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Aldersgate Church, 397 Tyler Run Rd, York. Officiating the service will be her pastor, the Rev. Bob Kaylor. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York is in charge of arrangements.

Barbara wanted her family and friends to know that she is sad to leave them but believes she will one day be with them again.
