Barbara E. (Thomson) Burns

YORK – Barbara E. (Thomson) Burns, 68, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at her home. A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Churchville Presbyterian Church, 2844 Churchville Rd., Churchville, MD 21028. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Born February 6, 1945 in Sewickley, PA a daughter of the late Robert W. and Marcella (Foulds) Thomson, she was a graduate of Quaker Valley High School and Albright College. She was a retired nutrition counselor from Harford County Health Department’s WIC program. Ms. Burns was a member of New Life Presbyterian Church in York and had been a very active member and former Elder at Churchville Presbyterian. She also served as a troop leader for Girl Scouts of America and had been involved with her children’s PTA organizations throughout their school years. Ms. Burns is survived by two daughters, Beth and husband Chris Derouaux of Red Lion and Becky and husband Mike Horner of Stewartstown; two grandchildren, Jake Horner and Jenna Derouaux; and a sister, Linda T. Patterson of Austin, TX. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, 3417 Concord Rd., York, PA 17402.
