Barbara (Consola) Mattey

WILKES-BARRE-Barbara C. Mattey, 57, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Sunday morning at her home. Born in Wilkes-Barre on September 28, 1954, she was a daughter of Joseph Consola of Wilkes-Barre and Esther (Jolley) Koscielnik of Nanticoke. Barbara was a graduate of Hanover Area High School. In 2003, she retired from Verizon where she had been a telephone operator for 31 years. She later went on to work for the American Red Cross from 2005 to 2011. Surviving is her husband of 33 years, Robert L. Mattey, who she married on June 17, 1978. She is also survived by her sons Kenny and Christopher Mattey, both at home; a brother, Joseph Consola, Nanticoke; a sister, Diana Lewis, Nanticoke; several nieces and nephews. Private services were held at the convenience of the family. Kniffen O’Malley Funeral Home, Inc., 465 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, has been entrusted with the services.
