Audrey M. Hafner

YORK- Audrey M. (Brickner) Hafner, 86, passed away on September 30, 2018 at SpiriTrust Lutheran, The Village at Sprenkle Drive. She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Elmer Hafner, in 1987. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Mt. Rose Cemetery, 1502 Mount Rose Ave, York, with Pastor Doug Johnson officiating. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc. 1551 Kenneth Rd, York is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Hafner was born on April 3, 1932 in York, to the late John and Grace (Thomas) Brickner. She spent her life as a loving mother and grandmother, taking every opportunity to baby-sit her grand and great grandchildren. Friends and family enjoyed her laugh, spirit and willingness to play any game being played. She made everyone feel special. She also loved to spend time with her friends and family as well as gardening and antiquing. She would often go antique shopping with her son, always pointing out the pieces that she remembered from her childhood and those she still owned. Mrs. Hafner was a member of Paradise Lutheran Church, where she would make the coffee between Sunday services. Friends and family always gave her bouquets of carnations as they were her favorite flower. Mrs. Hafner is survived by a son, William Hafner and his wife, Leslie; a daughter Brenda Miller; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren, and two sisters, Shirley Stabley and husband, Mike and Peggy Buchanan. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly (Hafner) Vecero, step-mother, Betty, and a brother, John ‘Butch’ Brickner.
