Felton—Audrey G. (Kauffman) Markel, 90, died Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Manor Care Health Services-Dallastown. She was the wife of the late Quenton J. Markel, the couple wed July 28, 1944. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11 AM, Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, 900 Pleasant Grove Rd, Red Lion with her pastor, Pastor Samantha Torgersen and her former pastor, the Rev. Joseph Yorks officiating. Viewings will be held from 6-8 PM, Monday, at Life Tributes by Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion and 10-11 AM, Tuesday at the church. Burial will be held in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Born September 4, 1923 in Chanceford Township, she was a daughter of the late Clyde and Ella (Boyd) Kauffman. Over the years she was employed with various sewing factories, worked in the cafeteria at the Red Lion School District and was a waitress at the former Rutter’s Restaurant in Red Lion. A 70 year member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, she was very active in several church organizations including, Ladies Aid, Sunday School Projects and Bible School. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who loved sewing, crocheting and crocheted an afghan for each of her grandchildren. She also enjoyed ceramics and bowling. Mrs. Markel is survived by two daughters, Carolyn A. Garner and husband, Clair of Felton and Joyce L. Frey and husband, Mark of Felton; one son, Quenton J. Markel II and wife, Debra of Hamlin, NY; nine grandchildren, Angela Blankenbiller, Marlyn Garner, Cory Garner, Jennifer Cianfrani, Marjo Frey, Elizabeth Frey, Chad Markel, Christopher Markel and Heather Markel; eight great grandchildren, Amanda Brown, Emily Garner, Anna Frey, Stella Frey, Xavier Markel, Isaiah Markel, Mackenzie Markel and Evelyn (Evie) Markel; one great-great granddaughter, Lydia Richart; one brother, Larry Kauffman; two sisters, Connie Druck and Shelby Almoney and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Charles, Donald, Dean, Ralph and Robert Kauffman and one sister, Beulah Axe.
