YORK- Aubrey E. Cooper, 86, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2015, at Cross Keys Village. He was the husband of Shirley J. (Blann) Cooper. The couple were married November 6, 1999 and spent over 15 happy years together. A Celebration of Life tribute service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, with his Pastor, Dr. Bayse “Bud” Reedy of Stillmeadow Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Viewings will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 from 7-9 PM and Wednesday, July 29, 2015 from 10-11 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Mr. Cooper served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Born October 31, 1928 in Nashville, TN, Aubrey was a son of the late Aubrey C. and Mary E. (Holland) Cooper. He worked as a chemist for 35 years at Aberdeen Proving Grounds until his retirement in 1986. Mr. Cooper was a member of Stillmeadow Church of the Nazarene. He was a gifted musician, playing the accordion and for 26 years he was an organist for Bel Air Church of the Nazarene. He loved to work on cars in his garage, especially for his family. In addition to his wife, Shirley, Mr. Cooper is survived by a son, Timothy D. Cooper of Maple Hill, NC; three daughters, Sharon E. Heaps and her husband Curtis M. of Port Deposit, MD, Deborah L. Elliott and her husband Ronald of Mulberry, FL, and Theresa L. Cooper of Manassas, VA; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; a brother, Thomas Cooper and his wife Jackie of Cookeville, TN; a sister, Shirley Newbold and her husband Nicky of Paradise, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Aubrey was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Hayden, a grandson, Chad M. Heaps, and his first wife, Margaret A. (Myers) Cooper. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Nazarene Compassionate Ministries, 17001 Prairie Star Pkwy, #100, Lenexa, KS 66220.
