Artie M. Holdren, Sr.

Artie M. Holdren, Sr., 86, of Troy, PA went to be with the Lord on Sunday evening, December 2, 2007. Artie had celebrated his 86th birthday with family and friends. He enjoyed hunting and bowling, but most of all took great pride in his 14 children, 70 grandchildren and great grandchildren. Artie leaves behind his sons and daughters: Carol (Joe) Williams of Canton, Keith (Wendy) Holdren of Maple Shade, NJ, Gary (Kim) Holdren of Granville Summit, PA, Michael Aderhold of Atco, NJ, Denny Holdren of Troy, PA, Nora Sue Holdren Odum of Panama City, FL, Randy Holdren of Troy, PA, Brett (Gisela) Holdren of Germany, Darryl (Brenda) Holdren of East Troy, PA, Linda (Trey) Ripley of St. Marys, GA, Jeffrey (Shelly) Holdren of Troy, PA, Jody (Dawn Allen) Holdren of Granville, PA, and Artie (Delores) Holdren, Jr. of Granville, his companion of 13 years Ellen Judson, his care taker Dawn Allen, all his grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, brothers: Bobby Holdren of New York State, David Holdren of Muncy, PA, and several nieces and nephews. Artie is predeceased by his son Terry Holdren, and wives Doris (Thomas) Holdren and Martha (Aderhold) Holdren, and brothers Dean and Tony Holdren. Artie was a 1939 graduate of Montoursville High School, was a World War II US Marine Corps. Veteran, belonged to both VFW Post # 8675 and American Legion Post #49, both in Troy, the Moose Lodge of Canton, and retired in 1982 from Kennedy Valve Co. in Elmira, NY where he was a general foreman of quality control. Family and friends are welcome to call from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 6, 2007 and again from 10:00-11:00 AM on Friday, December 7, 2007 at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home Inc., 110 West Main Street, Troy, PA. The funeral service to honor Artie's life will be held Friday, December 7th at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Garry Zuber of the 1st Baptist Church of Troy officiating. Burial will follow the service in Glenwood Cemetery with military rite given by the Troy Veterans Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made in Artie's memory to the charity of ones own choosing.
