Arthur "Sonny" Lewis, Sr.

YORK- Arthur H. “Sonny” Lewis, 85 passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at his residence. He was the husband of Helen L. (Moreland) Lewis. The couple celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on July 28, 2023.

Sonny was born in Winchester, VA on October 9, 1938, the son of the late Arthur and Lucille (Hogan) Lewis. He and Helen were the owners and operators of Lewis's Drive-In Cleaners in North York for 47 years.

When Sonny wasn’t working you would find him racing cars or motorcycles on a racetrack or playing a great game of tennis. He also had a love for music and when he was around young kids, he was always the most mischievous one of them.

Along with his wife Helen, Sonny leaves a son Kevin M. Lewis and his wife Lyndsi of York; as well as grandchildren, a sister Janet Brooks; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Arthur H. “Tony” Lewis, Jr. 2023.

Services will be private. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York is assisting the family with the arrangements.
