Wilkes-Barre- Arthur R. Singer, Jr., of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Sunday morning, April 27, at Hospice Community Care, Geisinger South, Wilkes-Barre. Born in Wilkes-Barre on August 13, 1927, he was the son of the late Arthur, Sr. and Mary (Frankenfield) Singer. He was a plumbing and heating contractor, and prior to his retirement in 1975, he was employed by J B Post, Wilkes-Barre. Arthur was a current member of Puritan Congregational Church, and formerly active with First Church of Christ, where he was a youth group leader and Sunday school teacher. He was also an avid fisherman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Dave, Jerry, Gene, and Ron Singer; and sisters, Charlotte Martin and Ethel Simms. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 57 years, the former Beverly Swick; and his daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie and John Rice, Forty-Fort, and Beth and Mark Rapson, Wilkes-Barre. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Jason Rice, Beth Paximadas and her husband Greg, Lindsey Rice, Mark Rapson and Scott Rapson; great grandchildren, Eleni and Evan Paximadas, who were the light of his life. Also surviving is his brother, Fred Singer of California and many nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 6-8PM at Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, Inc, 465 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre. Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family, with Rev. Jim Wilbur officiating. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Twp. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Puritan Congregational Church, 71 South Sherman Street, Wilkes-Barre. Condolences may be sent at www.BestLifeTributes.com.
