Arthur J. Clinton, Sr.

YORK - Arthur J. Clinton, Sr., 79, died Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at York Hospital. He was the husband of June L. [Cunningham] Clinton to whom he was married 59 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion; with his pastor, the Rev. Dennis A. Hummel officiating. Viewings will be held from 6-9:00 PM Monday and 9-10:00 AM Tuesday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Born March 22, 1928 in Hellam Twp., a son of the late Hulme A. and Florence V. [King] Clinton, he retired from Consolidated Freightways, Inc., and prior to that had retired from New York Wire Cloth Co. He was a member of Yorkshire United Methodist Church and was a social life member of Hellam VFW. Mr. Clinton will be remembered as a loving husband and father who enjoyed spending time with his family and sharing stories about his childhood. He also loved to complete crossword and jigsaw puzzles. In addition to his wife, Mr. Clinton is survived by three sons, Arthur J. Clinton, Jr. and wife Melody Clinton of Dover, Stanley R. and wife Debra Clinton of Bethlehem, PA, and Roy F. and wife Jane Clinton of Red Lion; three daughters, Julie A. and husband Mark Lucia of Wrightsville, Kathleen L. and husband John Rhoads of York, and Carol L. and husband Gregory McCleary of Red Lion; 18 grandchildren; three step granddaughters; 10 great grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; two step great great granddaughters; and three sisters, June Brown of Red Lion, Eleanor Deveney and Hazel Trimmer both of York. He was preceded in death by a son, Gregory S. Clinton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Yorkshire U.M.
