THOMASVILLE- Arthur C. Nispel, 79, of Jackson Township died, Thursday, September 29, 2011 at his residence. He was the husband of Setsuko I. (Igusa) Nispel. The couple celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on January 18th. A Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens in York with full military honors by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Certified Celebrant, Analise Bahneman will be officiating the service. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Nispel was born in York on December 9, 1931, a son of the late Charles H.F. and Violet (Brandt) Nispel. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and the Vietnam War before retiring in 1970. He was commended in 1961 for taking action to help avert a railway accident while serving in Japan. He worked for 14 years for Stauffer Biscuit Company in York. Mr. Nispel was a member of the Vigilant Social Club in York, Red Lion American Legion, and West Manchester Township VFW Post 7374. Mr. Nispel leaves two sons, Arthur C. Nispel, Jr. and his wife Sherrie of Jackson, Missouri; Michael T. Nispel and his wife Gail of Malvern; a daughter, Nancy E. Bretz and her husband Richard of Manchester; 11 grandchildren; two great grandchildren. A brother, Charles Nispel preceded him in death. Memorial contributions may be made to V.F.W Post 7374, 4800 W. Market Street, York, PA 17408.
