WILLIAMSPORT - Arnold Sarett, 70, of Williamsport died Saturday, January 15, 2011. He was born October 27, 1940 in Philadelphia and was the son of Samuel and Sophie (Yompolsky) Sarett. He was married to the former Judy Kaplan on August 11, 1968. They celebrated 43 years of marriage together. Arnold had tremendous entrepreneurial spirit. From the pizza shop in Philadelphia that he opened with his wife in 1969 to taking over his family business, M.E. Kaplan and Sons, along side his wife Judy, Arnold was always full of ideas and energy. Arnold was an avid sports fan. He loved the Eagles, Phillies, and Sixers. He loved old British sports cars and traveling. He had a passion for baseball cards. He loved a great game of poker with friends. He attended Temple University.He was a member of Sertoma, Ohev Sholom Synagogue and Mensa. Most of all, Arnold loved spending time with his wife and family, his dog Jake and his friends. Arnold was a warrior. He fought for his health for ten years. Surviving are his wife, one son Joshua and his wife Rebecca Sarett of Princeton, NJ, and two grandchildren Stella and Leo Sarett and Two sisters Roslyn Bernoff and Florence Freedman both of Philadelphia. The funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M., Monday, January 17, 2011 at Congregation Ohev Sholom, Cherry and Belmont Ave., Williamsport with his Spiritual Leader Rabbi Shaul Rappaport and Marvin Hurwitz officiating. Family and friends will be received at 1:15. In keeping with Jewish Tradition, there will be no flowers. Memorial contributions can be made to Penn State Hershey Medical Center, 500 University Drive, P.O. Box 850, Hershey, PA 17033 Donations should be addressed to Penn State Heart and Vascular Mechanical Support Program, in memory of Arnold Sarett. Burial will be at Ohev Sholom Cemetery.
