Arla R. (Solomon) Showers

MILTON - Arla R. (Solomon) Showers, 97, of the Rockwell Center, died on Monday, March 28, 2011 at River Woods, Lewisburg. Arla was born on February 4, 1914 in New Berlin and was a daughter of the late Alfred L. and Annie Jane (Musser) Solomon. She was married in 1930 in Lewisburg to the late George W. Showers who had died in 1968. She had worked at American Home Foods from 1954 to 1964. Arla was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Milton since 1927 and was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star #77, Milton. She enjoyed cross stitching, reading, gardening, bible studies and her family. Arla is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; Richard G. and Joyce Showers of White Deer, Norman L. and Lois Showers of Milton, two daughters and one son-in-law; Joyce M. Hendershot and Darlas A. and Lee Yost, all of Milton, 17 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son; Delbert G. Showers, three brothers; Harold A., M. Wardell and Oren B. Solomon, two sisters; Ethel M. Malady and Esther E. Penny and one son-in-law; Eugene B. Hendershot. There will be a public viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, April 1, 2011 at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 Mahoning St., Milton, PA 17847 with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend Cheryl L. Berner will officiate the services. Burial will follow in Milton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church or to the Evangelical Home Health Hospice, 1 Hospital Drive, Lewisburg, PA 17837.
