MONTOURSVILLE - Anna V. Filman, 93, formerly of 798 West Edwin Street, Williamsport, died on Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at the Valley View Nursing Center. She died as she lived - with grace and dignity. A native of Berks County, she was born on April 17, 1913 in Shoemakersville to George and Lizzie (Reppert) Becker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Franklin G. Filman, her son Richard D. Filman, and three sisters. A seamstress most of her life, she started sewing as a child to make clothes for her dolls. She sewed at the Vanity Fair Mills in Reading. Anna also worked as a cook. She worked until age 80 for the Foster Grandparent Program in Berks County. She had worked with children in Head Start and public kindergarten classes for ten years. Anna moved to Williamsport in 2001 to be closer to her daughter Judith. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, music, crocheting, playing cards, swimming, children, and animals. She was a longtime member of Christ United Church of Christ in Temple, and attended the Christ Episcopal Church in Williamsport, and St. John's Lutheran Church in Hamburg. She truly enjoyed her last months with her Valley View family. She is survived by her daughter Judith (Robert) Griesemer of Montoursville; her grandchildren Sheril (Dale) Warmkessel of Mertztown, Deborah (Tracey) Osterman of Peach Bottom, Richard (Shawna) Filman of Lander, WY, Julie (Andrew) Kays of Timonium, MD, and Bryan Griesemer of Sugar Grove, NC. She is also survived by five great grandchildren & a grand dog; and her sisters Thelma (George) Bates and Arlene (Melvin) Burkert, both of Hamburg. There was a family funeral service for Anna. Contributions in memory of Anna may be made to the Valley View Nursing Center, 2140 Warrensville Road, Montoursville, PA 17754. Arrangements were by the Allen and Redmond Funeral Home, 331 Elmira Street, Williamsport, PA.
