LOCK HAVEN - Anna V. Copenhaver, age 90, of passed away peacefully at her residence with her family by her side on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012. She was born in Beale Township in Juniata County on Sept. 22, 1921, daughter of the late Russell “Abe” and Mary (Hopple) Whitesel. Anna worked at Woolrich Co. as a shirt folder and also worked for Sylvania in her younger years. She was a member of the Caldwell United Methodist Church, Woolrich Beneficial Assoc., Woolrich KEEN Club, and the Haneyville Volunteer Fire Co. Anna was instrumental in starting the Woolrich Picnic Day at Kenobel’s Amusement Park, served as Gallagher Twp. PTA president, president of the Gallagher Twp. Election Board, and was a devoted blood donor. She loved doing ceramics and puzzles, and was an avid arts and crafts person, especially known for her crepe paper flowers . Anna is survived by her husband: Frank W. Copenhaver whom she married on Dec. 6, 1941 in East Waterford, Pa. They celebrated their 70th anniversary this past December. Also surviving are daughters: Carol Royer and Carlton Minnich of Sladington, Ruth “Sue” (George) Lucas of Mill Hall, Mary (Thomas) Hunter of Woolrich, Betty (Gene) Knarr of Lock Haven, Sandra (Stanley) Meredith of Caldwell, Gayle Colucci and Dan Hollaman of Yellville, Arkansas, and a son: Paul (Lavinia “Tiny”) Copenhaver of Lock Haven. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild and a sister: Pearl Smith of Mifflin. Besides her parents, Anna was preceded in death by her sisters: Eva Arnold, Cora Campbell, Rozella “Rosie” Wilson, Flora Campbell, and Margaret “Peg” Trego, and brothers: William “Bill” Whitesel, Paul (Rub) Whitesel, and Blair “Pete” Whitesel. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude and appreciation to all the nurses from the Community Nursing Service of Clinton County for their compassion and excellent care of their mother during her illness. Funeral services will be held at the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall, Pa. at 6:00p.m. Saturday, January 14, 2012 with Pastor T.R. Hardic officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Private family interment will take place at Rest Haven Memorial Park. Memorials are requested to the Caldwell United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 60, McElhatten, Pa. 17748.
