Anna (Melinchok) Walchak

POTTSVILLE - Anna Walchak, 93, of Pottsville, died Monday afternoon at ManorCare Health Services, Pottsville. Born in Pottsville on July 20, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Stephan and Tekla Bluschek Melinchok. She was married to the late John E. Walchak, who died Sept 23, 1984. Anna was the owner of her own grocery store in Pottsville. She was a member of Mary Queen of Peace Church, Pottsville. Surviving Anna are: a daughter, Margaret "Peggy" and her husband Jay N. VanScyoc, of Waynesburg, PA; two grandchildren; a half brother, George Santai; four sister in laws, Helen Walchak, of Camp Hill, Marie Melinchok, of Las Vegas, Eleanor Melinchok, of Pottsville and Rita Walchak, of Mahanoy City; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason S. Ebert. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM from the Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, 6th & W. Market St., Pottsville. The Reverend John Bambrick will officiate. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until time of service. Interment will be in the Queen of the Universe Cemetery, Peach Mountain.
