Anna Mae (Bartell) Haller

YORK- Anna M. (Bartell) Haller, 88, died on Thursday, February 11, 2010 at York Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late John Eckel Haller. Born May 23, 1921 in North York, she was the daughter of the late Walter C. and Effie A. (Wehler) Bartell. After graduating from North York High School Class of 1939 she was employed by the Bell Telephone Co. as a long distance telephone operator. Later she worked at the West Side Osteopathic Hospital as an Admittance Clerk and telephone operator. She then was employed by the York Bank and Trust Co. as a receptionist and telephone operator. Twelve years later she and her husband retired to Ft. Myers, FL. She resided there until her husband passed away in 1998, which time she returned to York, PA. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Zoe Anne Smith of Red Lion, wife of Ronald and Donna L. Beaverson of York, wife of Michael; five grandchildren, Michele Joines, Debbie Way, Ronald Smith, Jr., Cory Keller and Jodie Folkenroth; nine great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. She also has four step grandchildren and 11 step great grandchildren all from Omaha. She also leaves many many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister Mary Snyder; and three brothers, Robert Bartell, Ben Bartell and Richard Bartell. A Celebration of Life Service will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York. Pastor Phyllis Baum of Yorkshire United Church of Christ will officiate where Anna and her husband were chartered members. A visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service. Her children respectfully request in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the United Church of Christ, 100 Haybrook Dr., York, PA 17402 or to the American Diabetes Association, Memorial and Honor Program, 3544 N. Progress Ave., Suite 101, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
