NORTH BEND - Anna M. Curcio, age 85, died at Williamsport Hospital on Thursday, January 12, 2012. She was born in Renovo on July 25, 1926, a daughter of the late George and Belle (Walters) Cowfer. She was a graduate of Renovo High School and the Philadelphia School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse at Philadelphia General Hospital, the old Renovo Hospital, and Bucktail Medical Center. Anna also worked as a civilian employee for the government in Guam and Honolulu. Anna was member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Renovo, the Catholic Daughters of America, and the Altar & Rosary Society of the Church. She was an avid supporter of St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, and a past exalted ruler of the Renovo Elk’s Lodge #334. She loved working with her flower gardens, riding her John Deere to mow the lawn, and enjoyed doing ceramics in her younger years. She is survived by her husband of 46 years: John F. Curcio, whom she married in Renovo on September 18, 1965, and two sisters: Virginia Kaminsky of Hazelton and Mary Funk of North Bend. She was preceded I death by a son: John Anthony and two brothers: Roy and George Cowfer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Renovo on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Hyner. Friends will be received at the Church one hour prior to the Mass. Memorials are requested to the Elk’s Building Fund, c/o B.P.O. Elk’s #334, Renovo, Pa. 17764. Maxwell Funeral Home of Renovo is in charge of the arrangements.
