Anna Laura (Calhoun) Samas

RENOVO - Anna Laura Samas, age 96, formerly of Hammersley Fork, died Friday, April 1, 2011, while under the care of Hospice of Lancaster County. She was the wife of Charles J. Samas for over 63 years. Anna graduated from the Philadelphia General Hospital School of Nursing and was an instructor of Practical Nursing at Philadelphia General Hospital. She was an active member of the Lancaster Alliance Church, and enjoyed reading, knitting, and physical fitness. She and her husband, Charles, traveled extensively. Born in Hammersley Fork, Anna was the daughter of the late Clarence and Mabel (Walters) Calhoun. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the Maxwell funeral Home, 205 Fifth St., Renovo at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2011. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until service time. Interment will follow in New Maple Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to Hospice of Lancaster County, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, Pa. 17604-4125.
