RENOVO - Ann P. Thorsten, age 90, passed away at Bucktail Medical Center on Monday, Jan. 9, 2012. She was born in Renovo on December 6, 1921, a daughter of the late John and Anna (Gutt) Valyo. Ann was a devoted homemaker and worked for many years as a teacher’s aide at St. Joseph’s Catholic School. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America, and the Pennsylvania Slovak Catholic Union. She enjoyed traveling, monthly bus trips to Atlantic City, cooking, baking, and volunteer work at the Church and the election boards. She is survived by her son: Richard E. (Donna) E. Thorsten of Missouri City, Texas, two grandchildren: Richard E. Thorsten II of Kansas City, Missouri and Paula Stout of Missouri City, Texas, and four great grandchildren: Trevor Stout, Evan Stout, Soren Thorsten, and Riordan Thorsten. Besides her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her husband: Harry S. Thorsten in 2005 and two sisters: Margaret Welsh and Frances Szabo. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Renovo at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 16, 2012 with Rev. Fr. Norman Imgrund celebrating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Hyner. Friends will be received at the Maxwell Funeral Home, 205 Fifth Street, Renovo, Pa. from 6-7 p.m. Sunday.
