Anita L. Dunphy

YORK-Anita L. (Roy) Dunphy, 76, of York formerly of New Jersey, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at her residence. She was the wife of Richard D. Dunphy. The couple celebrated 55 years of marriage.

Mrs. Dunphy was born in Kearny, NJ on March 13, 1948, the daughter of the late Lester and Margaret (Rathlien) Roy.

Mrs. Dunphy had previously been a member of Resurrection Roman Catholic Church in Randolph, NJ. She loved lavender scents and flowers, she would often comment about her fresh fruits and vegetables and she enjoyed cooking, especially baking bread and cookies at Christmas. She loved the New Jersey shore and always compared everything to New Jersey; often making the statement “You can take the girl out of New Jersey, but you can’t take the Jersey out of the girl”. She enjoyed bird watching and cats and dogs. To her grandchildren she was known as Oma.

Along with her husband Richard, she leaves a son, Shawn Dunphy and his wife Cynthia; a daughter, Jennifer Langmead and her husband Mark; two grandchildren Ava Langmead and Erin Dunphy; a brother Russell Roy; and her husband’s brother, Phil Dunphy. She was preceded in death by her two pet dogs, Pepper and Baxter.

Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York is assisting the family with the arrangements.
