AVOCA- Anila M. (Yuschovitz) Meinberg, 88, of Grove Street, Avoca, passed away Wednesday evening in Mercy Hospital, Scranton. Born on July 2, 1922 in Pittston, she was a daughter of the late John and Christine (Kueser) Yuschovitz. She was a graduate of Avoca High School. She was a life member of SS. Peter and Paul Church, Avoca. She was also a member of the I.L.G.W.U. She enjoyed sewing and was excellent seamstress, she was know for making dresses without even an pattern. Anila also enjoyed watching soap operas and doing puzzles. Prior to retiring in 1982, she was employed by Pittston Apparel and Laura Fashions as a seamstress. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Violet Loughlin and infant brother, Adam. Surviving are her daughters, Karla Eileen Creamer and her husband, Tom, Westerville, OH; Barbara Andolsek and her husband, Tim, Ridgecrest, CA; grandchildren, Jennifer Thompson and her husband, Alex; Sherri Dingman and her husband, Robert; Kim Miletta; brother John Yuschovitzand wife, Veronica, Avoca; 6 nieces and nephews; numerous great nieces and nephews; numerous great-great nieces and nephews. Anila’s family would like to thank Dr. Dressel, Dr. Von Koch, Dr. Martin Moran and the I.C.U. Nursing Staff at Mercy Hospital for their excellent and compassionate care. The funeral will be held Monday at 9:00 a.m. from the Kniffen O’Malley Funeral Home, Inc., 728 Main Street, Avoca, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in SS. Peter and Paul Church, Avoca. The Reverend Phillip J. Sladicka will officiate. Interment will follow in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Moosic. Friends may call Sunday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 613 Baltimore Drive, Suite 3, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
