SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT - Americo "Mitt" Sabellico, 93, died on Thursday, February 11, 2010 at the Williamsport Home. He was married to the late Marilyn J. (Wood) Lazorka Sabellico in 1986 and who had died in September 2000. Americo was born on August 29, 1916 in Williamsport and was the son of the late Sisto and Louise (Cristini) Sabellico. He was a graduate of the Williamsport High School, class of 1935. He was a veteran of the US Navy from 1942 to 1948 and served during WWII as Fire Controlman/3rd Class with the USS Colorado. He was a former employee of Sylvania and retired in 1981 after 30 years service. Americo was a member of the Mater Dolorosa Church, USGA and the Republican Club. He was a life member of the VFW Post 844. He enjoyed golfing and woodworking. Americo is survived by three step sons and daughters-in-law; Daniel P. "Dan" and Pam Lazorka of S. Williamsport, James P. and Beth Lazorka of Montoursville, Steve J. and Betsy Lazorka of Bedford, two step daughters and one step son-in-law; Tina and Chuck Ankney of Lock Haven and Susan J. Lazorka of Salladsburg, eighteen step grandchildren, twelve step great-grandchildren, two nephews; Robert Fox of Muncy and Robert Sabellico of Staten Island, NY, one niece; Arlene Sober of Willmington, DE and one great niece; Linda Sabellico of Staten Island, NY. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother; Fred Sabellico and one Sister; Velia Fox. A mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Monday, February 15, 2010 at St Joseph the Worker Parish, Mater Dolorosa Church, 635 Hepburn St., Williamsport with the Reverend Shane L. Kirby officiating. Burial will follow in the Wildwood Cemetery. There will be a public viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, February 14, 2010 at the Allen & Redmond Funeral Home, 331 Elmira Street, Williamsport with a prayer service being held at 5:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Susquehanna Home Health Care Hospice, 1100 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
