Alyce Mae Suereth

YORK-Alyce Mae Suereth, 91, passed away at her residence on January 24, 2018. Born on April 27, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Beulah and William Stallsmith. Alyce is survived by her son Dirk and his wife Judy, her son Luke, grandsons Bryan and John, and granddaughter Abby. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Eugene, her daughter Lori Jo, granddaughter Katie, and her brother and sisters. Alyce was a graduate of York High (Class of 1944) and West Chester University. She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in North York. In her early years, Alyce would substitute and sometimes teach fulltime for the Central York School District. Later, she taught Health and Phys. Ed. at Dover Intermediate School for 20 years. Although the last few years were rough, Alyce always said she had no complaints and that she had lived a good life. She loved her family and the people she taught with. Alyce also had a wonderful group of friends with whom she and Eugene played cards, golfed, traveled, and laughed with. Donations can be made electronically to the SpiritTrust Lutheran Homecare and Hospice Service at www.spirittrustlutheran.org/foundation/donate-now/ or mail to the SpiritTrust Lutheran Foundation, 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, York PA 17404 (write “Hospice” on the check). There will be a private service for family members at a future date. Friends and relatives are reminded that they can always stop by Couselor Park, visit the family tree, and say hello to Alyce whenever they feel like it. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd in York is assisting the family with the arrangements.
