MC EWENSVILLE - Alvin E. Phillips, 93, died on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center. Alvin had married the late Kay E. (Aucker) on October 6, 1945 and they had celebrated 58 years of marriage until her death on May 20, 2004. Alvin was born on May 4, 1920 in Elimsport and was the son of the late Norman L. and Sue A. Phillips. He was a veteran of the US Army and served during WWII. He had worked as a truck driver for Fulmer Gas & Oil and then worked and retired from Turbotville VFW as a manager and bartender at the age of 62. He was a member of the Lutheran faith. He was also a member of the Legion Post 841, VFW Post 1665 and 40/18-13. He enjoyed fishing gardening and riding motorcycles. Alvin is survived by one son and daughter-in-law; Ronald D. and Asuncion Phillips of McEwensville, two grandchildren; Shelly Wise of Lewisburg and Matthew Phillips of Sunbury, three great-grandchildren; Amanda, Alyssa and Briana Wise and one brother; Lawrence Phillips of Milton. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers; Chester and Ralph Phillips. There will be a public viewing 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at The Dale E. Ranck Funeral Service, 125 N. Front St., Milton with the funeral service to begin at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery. Pastor Jerry Caswell will officiate the services.
