Alverna J. 'Toot' (Moore) Miller

MILTON - Alverna J. “Toot” (Moore) Miller, 82, died Friday, January 23, 2015 at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg. She was born on May 19, 1932 and was the daughter of the late Hattan and Mary (Huffman) Moore. Toot worked for Reldas and Bobby Brooks as a presser, then went on to own and operate the BBQ Hut of Muncy. She attended the Evangelical Methodist Church, West Milton and was a Union Stewardess for many years. She enjoyed playing cards, scrabble, bingo, cross word puzzles, reading, cooking, playing the slot machines at the various casinos, but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren. Alverna is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law; Leslie M. and Cecil Fisher of Milton and Marilyn L. Montgomery of Allenwood, four grandchildren; Stacy Middlesworth, Temmy Sheatler, Kathy Smith and Dawn Remsnyder, eight great grandchildren; Neil Costagliola, Lindsay Fisher, Deven LeBarron, Teri Lee Bennett, Jonny LeBarron, Brock Smith, Cole Remsnyder and Olivia Remsnyder, one great great granddaughter; Peyton Mae LeBarron and one brother; Lelan “Dean” Moore of Lewisburg. In addition to her parents, Alverna was preceded in death by three brothers; Hatton, Robert and Bernard Moore and one sister; Betty Swartz. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to, The American Diabetes Association, 3544 North Progress Ave., Suite 103, Harrisburg, PA 17110 A gathering of friends and family will be held 6:00 – 7;00 p.m., Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at The Dale E. Ranck Funeral Service, 125 N. Front Street, Milton followed by a memorial service at 7:00 p.m. Burial will take place in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery at the convenience of the family.
