YORK - Alorius Anne (McCann) Collier, 88, passed peacefully and unexpectedly on March 5, 2023, at Country Meadows of York-West.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Country Club of York, on April 1, 2023, at 1:30 PM, officiated by Gloria Bose, Country Meadows West Chaplain. Anne’s Tribute Service will be livestreamed from her obituary page at www.HeffnerCare.com

Born June 29, 1934, in Richmond, VA, Anne was the daughter of the late Raymond E. and Frances G. (Bockisch) McCann. Anne attended Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, VA, and graduated from York College of PA with a B.S. in Abnormal Psychology.

Anne was always outgoing and spirited. She was on the cheerleading squad in high school and enjoyed playing field hockey. Additionally, she modeled swimsuits for Miller & Rhoads department store and worked as a carhop at Bill's BBQ drive-in.

During college, Anne's roommate, Mary, brought Anne home where she met Mary's brother Bill. Anne married Bill, a Naval Academy graduate, in 1955. She spent 25 years as the wife of a naval officer, traveling around the U.S. and abroad, including stations in the Philippines and Japan. Upon retirement from the Navy, they settled in York, PA, where Anne became an active member of the community. She served twice as President of the Garden Club of York (1989-1991 and 1993-1995), was President of the Women's Club of York (2001-2004) and worked as a realtor.

As a member of the Garden Club, Anne enjoyed learning and attended many seminars and earned certifications as a Master Landscape Design Consultant, Environmental Consultant, and Gardening Consultant. She was also dedicated to promoting the Scholarship Fund and was the Awards Chairman.

Anne enjoyed traveling, including Germany, her grandparent's homeland, England, Greece, Italy, and Ireland. Anne also traveled to Australia to visit her granddaughter and family and traveled solo by train across the continent. She and Bill had season tickets to Navy Football games and attended most games, including Hawaii and Ireland, where they enjoyed tailgating with their lifelong friends. They also enjoyed cultural activities and regularly attended events at the Strand Theater, York Little Theater, and the National Symphony Orchestra in DC.

Anne donated her time and resources to many causes including the boy scouts and girl scouts serving as a den and scout leader, Military Family Aid, St. Joseph's Indian School, Catholic Charities, National Heart Association, Easter Seals, and numerous local charities.

Anne was devoted to her grandchildren and took them on many exciting adventures, from events, sightseeing spots, and even the family's cabin on the river. They were also always sure to receive a postcard from all of "G&G"s travels.

She is survived by two sons, Dr. William G. Collier, Jr. and wife Toni Keller of Silver Spring, MD, and John R. Collier and wife Dr. Beth MacDonald of Falmouth, MA; a daughter, Mary F. Collier of Big Timber, MT; four grandchildren, Casey Collier of MD, Jamie and husband Dylan Biddix of NC, Megan and husband Robert McAuliffe of Queensland, Australia, and Jeremy and wife Holly Bennett of MD; and three great-grandchildren, Henry, Benjamin, and Lily. She was preceded in death by her husband, William G. Collier, Sr., grandson, Leland C. Bennett, and a brother, Raymond E. McCann II.
