Almeda Marie (Engle) Dunn

MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP- Almeda Marie (Engle) Dunn, 67 of York, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at York Hospital. She was the wife of Reed J. "Jack" Dunn, Jr., to whom she had been married for 45 years. A Celebration of Life Service will be 10 a.m. on Saturday at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York. Viewings will be from 6-8:30 p.m. on Today and 9-10 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Almeda was born in Warfordsburg, PA on July 7, 1941, the daughter of the late John Clarence and Annie Marie (McKee) Engle. In addition to her husband, Almeda leaves a son, Bradley Sean Dunn of York, a sister, Wanda Jean Kling and her husband Wilbur Joe Kling of Carlisle and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter Andrea Marie Engle and a sister Nellie Olla Mellott. Almeda was a 1959 graduate of Fulton High School in Fulton County, PA. She was a homemaker most of her adult life, although she found time to be self employed in various craft activities, including hand crafted porcelain jewelry. She was also active in the Roundtown PTA and served as president of that organization in 1975. Memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA. Almeda will be remembered for her beautiful smile and an engaging personality, which never faltered, even during the discomfort of the medical issues so prevalent in her latter years.
