YORK - Alma M. (Cocklin) Groh, 100, died on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at Manor Care Health Services, Dallastown. She was the wife of the late Harry S. Groh who passed away on January 14, 1982. The couple wed on October 7, 1936 A celebration of life tribute service will be 10 a.m. on Friday, January 10, 2012 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion with her pastor, the Reverend Fred A. Walthour officiating. A viewing will be from 9-10 a.m. prior to the service. A graveside service will be at 12 p.m. at Rolling Green Cemetery, 1811 Carlisle Rd., Camp Hill. Mrs. Groh was born on September 30, 1911 in Camp Hill, a daughter of the late William and Olive (Floyd) Cocklin. Alma graduated from Dillsburg High School and attended Central Penn Business School. After graduation, she worked for Francis for Ford Dealership. She was a devoted homemaker most of her life in Jacobus. Mrs. Groh was an active member of Salem U.C.C in Jacobus. She was a life member of Goodwill Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary and the Jacobus Senior Center. Alma played the piano and enjoyed playing cards and board games with her grandchildren. Mrs. Groh is survived by a son, Gary L. Groh and his wife, Linda of Jacobus; a daughter, Sandra G. Porter and her husband, James of West Chester; five grandchildren, Jake Porter, Sam Porter, Lizzie Porter Anderson, Monica Tyson and Mitch Groh; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Floyd Cocklin; and three sisters, Fern Weigle, Dorothy Cook and Betty Henninger. Memorial contributions may be made to Salem U.C.C, 24 Franklin St., Jacobus, PA 17407.
