YORK- Alma Jean (Rhinehart) Moyers, 87, passed away Friday, January 12, 2018 at her home, Country Meadows of York-West, surrounded by her loving family. Alma Jean was born September 23, 1930 in Gilbert, WV. While growing up in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, she was strong academically, involved in leadership activities, played softball, and awarded the title of Miss New Market. Alma Jean graduated from New Market High School in 1948 and continued her education at Rockingham Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. Upon graduation, she worked in Labor and Delivery until starting her family. Alma Jean’s activities included crocheting, bingo, Wii bowling, puzzles, crafts, and attending church services, which was a high priority. She was welcoming to all and her giving nature, big heart and smile continued throughout her lifetime. Above all, Alma Jean was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who has left a lasting impact on the lives she has touched. Alma Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac Newton and Katrina Belle (Lowe) Rhinehart; her husband of 43 years, Mannie J. Moyers; her brother William N. Rhinehart and her sister Mary Louise (Rhinehart) Beauregard. She is survived by her brother Harold “Butch” W. Rhinehart and his wife, Barbara of Arlington, VA and her sister-in-law, Charlsie L. Rhinehart of Mouth-of-Wilson, VA. Also surviving her are her four daughters and son-in-laws, Pamela Moyers Marcon and Raymond Harris Marcon of Naples, FL; Loretta Ann Nolt and James Robert Nolt, Jr.; Carla Sue Shank and Jason Brooks Shank; Andrea Louise Moyers-Bloss and Glenn James Walter Bloss, all of York, PA. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Leah Baginski, Wappingers Falls, NY, Zac Snyder (Michelle), Windsor, Anthony Marcon (Sarah), Boalsburg, Alex Marcon (Stephanie), Port Matilda, Christopher Nolt, Red Lion, Lexy Bloss, York, Libby Bloss, York, Trinket Charles, Mount Joy, Seth Nolt (Cindy), Hellam, PA and 9 great-grandchildren. Alma Jean’s love for Christ was exceptionally strong. She will be buried with her husband and beside her parents at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery in New Market, VA. Private services will be held at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations may be made to Grane Hospice Care, 1200 Camp Hill Bypass, Suite 205, Camp Hill, PA 17011 or York County SPCA, 3159 Susquehanna Trail, York, PA 17406.
