YORK- Allen Ray Walker, 63, passed away on January 22, 2011 at Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Nancy E. (Stoner) Walker. The couple had been married for over 35 years. A celebration of life service will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with the Reverend Tracy A. Conner officiating. A visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home. Full military honors will be provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard prior to the service. Mr. Walker was born on March 25, 1947 in Hanover, a son of the late Floyd and Bernice (Maddox) Walker. Allen worked as a welder for BAE systems, formerly BMY, for 20 years. He later worked maintenance for Dawn Foods. Mr. Walker served our country for three years in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. During his time of service, he received many honors. Mr. Walker was a 14 year member of the Shiloh American Legion Post #0791. Allen was a devoted husband and father. He was an avid gun collector and enjoyed riding his motorcycles, antique car shows and enjoyed the street rods when they came to York. Along with his wife, Nancy, Allen is survived by a son, Joel Townsend and his wife, Vickie of Dover; two daughters, Julie Cloninger and her husband, Tim of Rantoul, Illinois and Renee Mitzel and her husband, Randy of Felton; one granddaughter; four grandsons; two brothers; and three sisters. He was preceded in death by a brother.
