SHREWSBURY – Allen A. Pennewill, 88, passed away Tuesday, July 27. 2021 at his home. He was the husband of Joyce Y. (Hess) Pennewill to whom he was married for 33 years. Born September 15, 1932 in Hanover, a son of the late Arthur I. and Geraldine M. (Bolin) Pennewill, he was a 1950 graduate of Eichelberger High School in Hanover and a 1953 graduate of Williamson College of the Trades in Delaware Co., PA where he was Leader and drummer in the school dance band. Mr. Pennewill served in the US Army as a Military Police Officer from 1953 to 1955 during the The Korean War. Allen was a Class A Electrician having worked at the US Naval Ordinance Plant, Y.E.P Industries and numerous organizations over the years. He was a Life Member of the Williamson Alumni Assoc.; a member of The American Quarter Horse Assoc. of Amarillo, TX and acquired several awards for horseback riding, including the 2000 Hour Award. Allen also was a freelance drummer, playing with dance band groups throughout PA & MD in the 1950’s. He was a past member of the former Dutch Club, Manor Social Club and the drummer for the Lyric Band of Hanover. In addition to his wife, Mr. Pennewill is survived by two sons, Scott A. and wife Darla Mae Pennewill of Red Lion and Mark A. Pennewill of Yoe; three grandchildren, Lauren Pennewill, Katie and husband Justin Barnett and Holly Pennewill; a sister, Janice Staub of York; and nieces and nephews.
