Alice R. (Snyder) Shermeyer

York—Alice R. (Snyder) Shermeyer, 89, died Sunday, July 8, 2012 at Manor Care Health Services-South. She was the wife of John F. Shermeyer, Sr., with whom she celebrated 70 years of marriage on June 21st. A Celebration of Life Service will be 10 AM, Friday July 13, 2012 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with her pastor, the Rev. C. Leroy Doverspike officiating. Viewings will be held from 7-9 PM, Thursday and 9-10 AM, Friday, at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Red Lion Cemetery. Born September 6, 1922 in Chanceford Township, she was a daughter of the late William G. and Cora Jane (Frey) Snyder. She was employed with Red Lion Controls for many years until her retirement. Previously she worked with Wolf Brothers and Excello Shirt Company. A member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Red Lion, she was also a member of the White Rose Square Dancers, Pretty Boy Swingers in Maryland, Gold Nuggets, AARP and knitted afghans. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Shermeyer is also survived by one son, John F. Shermeyer, Jr., and his wife, Lori of Wrightsville; two grandchildren, William F. Shermeyer and his companion, Beth Shoff of Red Lion and Craig A. Shermeyer and his wife, Emily of Brogue; one step grandson, Chad M. Mitzel; five great grandchildren, Nicole, Nick, Leah, Josh and Jack; two step great grandchildren, Rylee and Brayden; two brothers, Clarence Snyder of Red Lion and George Snyder of Shiloh and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Clara, Carrie, Olive and Susan and two brothers, Luther and Titus. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany United Methodist Church, 121 W.
