Alice J. (Zearfoss) Misner

Alice Misner, of Normandie Ridge in York, PA, was born on Christmas Day in 1927 and died Monday, January 20, at the age of 97. She was the childhood sweetheart and wife of the late Charles (Mickey) Misner. The couple observed their 73rd wedding anniversary on May 1, 2020.

Alice was the youngest daughter of the late Wayne and Elsie (Bakner) Zearfoss. She was preceded in death by her husband, brothers Wayne (Skip) and Larry Zearfoss, sister Charlotte Quigley, and granddaughter Alisha Swartz. Alice is survived by her brother Gary (Butch) Zearfoss; four children, Linda (Misner) Lehner, Randy Misner, John Misner, and Jill (Misner) Swartz; nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. 

Alice and Charlie were founding members of the State College Christian & Missionary Alliance (C&MA) Church and attended the C&MA Church in York for many years. More recently, they were members of the Calvary Baptist Church. In retirement, they traveled extensively, and Alice curated scrapbooks and journals of their trips to China, Egypt, India, Italy, Japan, and South America. She also wrote a memoir of her life growing up in rural Franklin County titled “My Fairview of the World.”

Tiny, as she was affectionately known by family and childhood friends, was a constant source of support and encouragement to her extended family. She delighted in spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brother, nieces, nephews, and their families, and she was rewarded with their appreciation. devotion, and kindness.

In honor of her final wishes, Alice’s remains will be buried next to her husband at a private ceremony by immediate family members. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York is in charge of arrangements.

A celebration of life reception will be held at Cousler Park in early May. We will send ‘save the date’ invitations to all family and friends soon.
