RED LION- Alice M. (Wilson) Smeltzer, 70, entered into God’s eternal care on May 31, 2016 at her residence with her loving family by her side. She was the wife of George W. Smeltzer, Jr., to whom she was married to for 51 years. Born on May 31, 1946 in York Hospital, she was the daughter of the late Clifford L. and Grace (Barshinger) Wilson, Sr. of Spry. Alice is survived by three children, Tammy L. Hungerford and her husband Andy of Red Lion, Tina E. Smeltzer and her fiancé Paul Jennings of Windsor, and Troy W. Smeltzer and his wife Tara of York; seven grandchildren, Kristina, A.J., Zachary, Jordyn, Kyleigh, Rayllen, and Cody. She also leaves two brothers, Larry L. Wilson and Leon C. Wilson, both of Spry and a sister Joan M. Harvey of Red Lion. She loved her children and grandchildren very much. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church as well as Red Lion VFW post 1446 ladies auxiliary. Alice worked for Tauchers Supermarket in Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts, McCrory’s Distribution Center in York, and she retired from Red Lion School District with 25 years of service. She enjoyed playing Bingo and spending time on her computer. A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2016, followed by funeral service at 11 a.m. at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion. The Reverend Joshua T. Beban will be officiating at the service. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery in Shenk’s Ferry. It was a request of Alice that the family and friends dress casually. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of Dallastown Medical Associates for all of the care they gave her over the years and to the staff of Hospice and Community Care for all of your support and care, Thank You!! God Bless You All. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Alice’s name to SPCA, 3159 Susquehanna Trail, York, PA 17406 or to Hospice and Community Care, 224 Saint Charles Way, Suite 200, York, PA 17402.
