Alice M. Lockhart

YORK- Alice M. Lockhart, 68, died on Monday, December 14, 2015 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Services for Alice are private at the convenience of the family. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Born on August 28, 1947 in Shady Plain, PA, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Helen (Dalrymple) Lockhart. Alice was a graduate of Elderton High School in Shelocta, PA. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and her Master of Science Degree from Western Maryland College, now McDaniel College. Alice went on to teach at the Solanco School District for one year and the Dallastown Area School District as a high school English and Reading teacher for 29 years until her retirement. Ms. Lockhart was a member of Dallastown Business and Professional Women’s Club, former President of the Dallastown Area Education Association, former member of the PSEA Retirement Board, member of NEA/PSEA Retired, member of Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees, and a member of the Giggling Geritol Gerties (Red Hats). Alice is survived by one brother, Robert Lockhart; sister in law, Joan Lockhart; one niece, Shelley Maxa and her husband, Brad; one nephew, Ryan Lockhart and his wife, Kayla; one great nephew, Graham Maxa; one great niece, Aria Lockhart; and her adopted family, Bernadette Tuscano, John and Gloria Tuscano and family, and Rosemarie and Bill Dobbs. She was preceded in death by one brother, James Lockhart. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for their care and concern during Alice’s illness.
